Candidates
Candidates for MediZen’s Early Disease Detection procedures
include individuals who are 45 or older and are concerned about
their health. Early Disease Detection is particularly important
for those who have a known family history of conditions such
as heart disease, cancer, high cholesterol, high blood pressure,
or anyone who smokes tobacco.
Importance of Early Disease Detection
Early detection of disease is important because it leads to
improved cure rates and quality of life. When disease is diagnosed
early, less invasive and less radical treatments often are
available. Even if you already have a healthy lifestyle, it
doesn't eliminate the risk of diseases that may be genetic.
Many diseases can progress for years before symptoms occur
and, by then, treatment may be ineffective.
Medical professionals realize early detection and subsequent
intervention is key to survival. MediZen preventive procedures
are designed to do just that — detect disease early
to enhance and prolong your life. Each procedure incorporates
the risk of not detecting a condition, or issuing a false
positive indicator. Preventative screens are not foolproof,
just as medicine itself is not foolproof. MediZen Advanced
Imaging takes pride in utilizing the newest state-of-the-art
equipment available to ensure accuracy and lessen the risk
of false positives.
Health care professionals from all over the world are recognizing
the effectiveness and efficiency of early disease detection.
You will leave MediZen with a sense of well-being and empowerment
knowing that you have made a vital decision in managing your
health.
MediZen Cardiac Calcium Scan
MediZen Advanced Imaging CT Cardiac Calcium Scan examination
takes precise images of the heart to reveal how much calcium
is present - a reliable marker for the presence of heart disease.
This exam helps measure the level of cardiac risk and gives
you the opportunity to take preventive measures.
CT Cardiac Calcium Scoring uses high-tech CT scanners to
see and quantify the amount of calcium in heart vessels. This
total score is a good indication of both the amount of ‘hard,’
calcified plaque and also indirectly the amount of ‘soft,’
non-calcified plaque.
Your cardiac calcium score report will contain a total calcium
score, with reference to score ranges for your age group.
It will also give individual scores for the heart’s
major arteries. The report will classify you into a disease
category, with some basic suggestions about how to approach
continuing healthcare.
MediZen Virtual Colonography
Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed form of
cancer in the United States. Colon cancer progresses very
slowly, which means the survival and cure rate can be as high
as 90 percent if the cancer is detected early. The current
survival rate is only 37 percent.
MediZen’s Virtual Colonography is non-invasive and
produces 3-D images in slices of the entire colon that does
not require anesthesia. Patients can resume normal activities
immediately after the MediZen Virtual Colonography.
MediZen Low Dose Lung Screening
Lung cancer is the #1 cause of cancer-related death in men
and women. Only 12-15 percent survive the disease but if diagnosed
early, the survival rate can reach 80 percent. MediZen’s
Low Dose Lung Screening can detect very small tumors at their
earliest stage when they are still highly curable.
You will find scanning to be quick and convenient.
- You remain in your street clothing
- No preparation is required
- Images are acquired during a single breath hold
- No injections or blood draws are needed
- The entire examination takes less than 20 minutes
Screening for early signs of lung cancer has proven to be
extremely beneficial for smokers, as well as those exposed
to asbestos and other environmental pollutants. Recent studies
such as the Early Lung Cancer Action Project have shown that
a low-dose CT scan of the chest can detect lung cancer at
an earlier and potentially more curable stage than ordinary
X-rays.
MediZen Whole Body Scan
MediZen Whole Body Scan is a combination of the Heart and
Lung Scan and other vital organs and structures in the abdomen
and pelvis. Except for organ function, the Whole Body Scan
examines the chest, abdominal organs, and pelvic structures
for size, shape and obvious abnormalities.
The detection of conditions specifically addressed during
the whole body screen include, but are not limited to, abdominal
aortic aneurysm, sizable hiatal hernia, dense gall stones,
kidney stones, tumors, prostate enlargement, ovarian masses/cysts,
adrenal masses, lung masses and abnormal fluid, pancreatic
masses and prominent bone masses.
MediZen Osteoporosis Scan
Osteoporosis is a condition resulting from the loss of bone
mass leading to decreased bone strength and increased risk
of fracture, particularly of the hip and spine. Although some
loss of bone mass is a normal consequence of aging, accelerated
bone loss resulting in osteoporosis is now readily detected
and treated. MediZen’s state-of-the-art Osteoporosis
Scan uses ultra fast CT and can quickly and painlessly measure
your bone calcium content.
MediZen CT Angiogram
Using the most advanced CT technology available, MediZen Advanced
Imaging offers an alternative to the traditional catheter
angiography to evaluate the extent of blockage in your arteries.
The MediZen CT Angiogram uses a 16 slice helical CT scanner
to produce pictures of the flow of blood inside the arteries.
Our CT Angiogram is performed in an outpatient setting using
neither sedation nor catheters, thus reducing, or eliminating
recovery time and reducing post-procedural complications. |
